Deployable camera
From Tribes2Wiki
Deployable cameras, or simply cameras, are used world wide by various organizations looking for increased sensor coverage and in rarer cases to provide a ledge. Unlike all other types of deploy-able equipment they are stored in the hand grenade slot instead of in the pack slot.
[edit] History
Deployable Cameras were first introduced in Tribes 2 base and since then their employment has increased greatly. They are now commonly found on the terrain of most maps wherever extensive gameplay has occurred. Early Deployable Cameras used a one hundred fifty degree "fish eye" lens that was aim-able by the user when accessed via the command circuit. Since then the level of interaction between player and deployable camera has been reduced. Modern deployable cameras now display a one hundred twenty degree angle with no aim-able capabilities. Despite the limited angle that a deployable camera will show the user during remote access, the camera will still detect objects not visible from the lens provided that they are unblocked and within a 'mod' specific radius of the camera.
[edit] Usage
Despite how the camera can be interacted with via the command circuit, the primary usage of the deployable camera is to automatically detect opposing forces and relay the information to friendly forces and turrets.
In certain mods, the camera has the rare ability to reveal objects under the sensor jammer and cloaker effects when the objects move within range of the cameras sensitivity radius. This ability is the primary motivating factor for deployment of the device. The camera also has more obscure usages as a ledge where it can support a satchel charge or even a mine.
